SORD Uganda has put up two primary schools "In Kampala -kawempe and in Amolatar
SORD is a non-profit NGO registered in Uganda. Our aim is to change lives of poor abandoned and orphaned uganda children by Educating, Sheltering and feeding them. We now have a school in which we are educating community children, now over 200, and 15 orphans – catered for by SORD in all their needs
SORD Uganda is a Christian organization whose mission is to follow our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in working with the Orphans and Vulnerable people to provide education, fight poverty as education is the best tool to fight poverty and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God. She is a clever girl who has been attending a state school. She has other three siblings. Two of them are of school going age but still at home due to poverty. One of them is still at the state school. Both parents are deceased and she now lives with the grandfather.
In March, while we were in Australia visiting our son, I decided to be a little bit crazy and do a tandem skydive. I decided it would be good to try to raise some money towards building a new classroom for the Amolatar school. We had started sponsoring a scholar in January, and had been very impressed with the enthusiasm and effort of Jimmy and Calvin, and others, and also how friendly and caring the community was that supported the schools. I was overwhelmed by the support I got from friends and family, and managed to raise enough to build ‘the skys the limit’ classroom for the nursery children. Although we are far away in England I loved all the photos that showed the progress of the building, and finally, all the children sitting at their desks in the completed room. I am sure that it will be very well used, and I feel very blessed that we have been involved.

My involvement with SORD goes back to the days of Moses. That's Omara Moses, the founder of the work for SORD who sadly died back in January 2023 under tragic circumstances. Everyone who knew Moses loved him and his God given enthusiasm for the children, orphans and communities of Kawempe and Amolatar. We are extremely grateful to Jimmy Kings (Ogwang) who gave up a good job teaching in a private school in order to take over the reins as executive director, with help from Moses younger brother Calvin, who is our managing director and currently studying for a degree in civil engineering. So with Jimmy, Calvin, Sally Crowe and myself, who work really well together, often with humour even in difficult circumstances to improve the lives of the children and their future prospects through education. Sally and I are both volunteers. The work itself of supporting two schools in poor areas has grown substantially this year with the great support from family and friends, many of whom like myself suffer from a debilitating illness call M.E

I’m a crofter (small farmer) from the far north of Scotland. I have one son, William, who’s currently in nursery school. I was introduced to SORD by Paul around the time I had William. Having a young son has brought home to me the inequalities children all over face.
